WFAA Welsh Open 3D Champs, 2007
On June 16th and 17th 2007, Hawk Archers played host to the WFAA Welsh Open 3D cahmpionships. The competition consisted of a two day shoot, the first day being a marked distance shoot of 28 x 3D targets, followed by the second day of unmarked distances on 28 x 3D targets. In all, the WFAA thouroughly enjoyed the two days, and as such, are hoping to build on it's success next year.
For the large part, the weather was typically wet underfoot, as our course layers can testify to (many a slip was forthcoming in the mud!!) But thankfully, the only real downpours that did transpire were brief, albeit wet!!
Basically, this was the first time that such an event had ben shot by the majority of the WFAA memebrs, the WFAA being more familiar with shooting marked distances on 2D faces, and it is with that in mind that this competition was decided upon to introduce thoseWFAA members who would normally shoot spot rounds to the challenge of 3D targets with the added challenge of unmarked distances!!
Much of the feedback that the WFAA have received from the attemding members was that of a great couple of days' shooting, and many of their members are itching to shoot more of the same !!
Thanks go to:-
The catering crew, they did an absolutely awesome job!
The course layers, for achieving a complete rearragement of the course in one evening !!
All the members of Hawk Archers who marshalled, helped out in any way or were there for the support. All of you are appreciated!!
Our thanks go to both the WFAA for giving us the opportunity to host such an event, and to The Archery Company, for supplying the WFAA with the necessary exrta 3D targets.
